Saturday Morning: Greystone, and a Slow Start

When you are ready, Greystone Mansion and Gardens sits in the hills above the city. Built for the Doheny family in the 1920s, the estate keeps its formal gardens, its Tudor grandeur, and its terraces with a wide view across the basin, and it costs nothing to walk. Arrive at opening and most of it is yours. It is also the best hour of the weekend for photographs.
Saturday Midday: Rodeo Drive, and Lunch on the Patio
Rodeo Drive between Wilshire and Santa Monica Boulevard does not require you to buy anything. The stores are immaculate, the salespeople have seen everything and remain unhurried, and an hour spent inside that particular hush is its own kind of midday. Beverly Drive, one block east, is where the neighborhood actually shops, and it is the better walk of the two.
Lunch belongs at Culina. It is elevated Italian in a room that manages to be grown up without being stuffy, the tuna and the burrata are the quiet pleasures of the menu, and the patio is built for lingering. The list is Italian-focused, and the sommeliers will happily build a small flight around a region the two of you have loved somewhere else.
Saturday Afternoon: The Spa
An anniversary weekend deserves one screen-free afternoon, and this is it.
Tomoko Japanese Spa on South Beverly Drive leans into ritual rather than menu. Couples book a private suite with an Ofuro soaking bath, small servings of sushi and tea, and a side-by-side massage. Arrive thirty to forty-five minutes early for the bath. You will rarely see another guest once the door closes, which is the entire point.

Then Spago. Wolfgang Puck’s Beverly Hills flagship remains one of the most polished rooms in the country, the service is calm and precise, and the list is deep enough to reward handing it over. Take the tasting menu with pairings, ask for a quieter corner banquette, and let the sommelier steer.
For couples who organize their travel around food, Maude is the other answer. The small, chef-driven tasting room on South Beverly Drive is quiet, considered, and completely unlike the larger rooms above. Reservations are hard-won and worth planning the evening around.
Beverly Hills leans dressy without leaning formal. A jacket without a tie, a dress or polished separates, and you are correct anywhere in this guide.
After Dinner: The Sign, Lit
Beverly Gardens Park runs nearly two miles along Santa Monica Boulevard, past rose gardens, cactus gardens, and fountains, with the Beverly Hills sign at its western edge, lit after dark and reflected in the pond in front of it. Walk to it after dinner.
From there the night chooses its own direction. The Polo Lounge has been an institution long enough to have earned its confidence, and on an evening with live music, in a corner booth, it is exactly what it promises. Or go back to the villa, light the fire, and open the nightcap you packed.
Sunday Morning: The Long Breakfast
The Belvedere is one of the last true grand hotel dining rooms in Los Angeles. White linen, refined service, a menu that respects tradition, and doors that open early enough to build the entire morning around it.
One piece of advice, offered often: do not try to see all of this. The anniversary weekends our guests describe years later are the ones with two beautiful reservations and a great deal of quiet in between.
